Welcome!
The Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA), IndyGo, and the ITA are proud to announce the date for the ITA’s 78th Annual Meeting. This year’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 17th through Thursday, July 19th in downtown Indianapolis at the Omni Severin Hotel. Follow the link to the hotel’s web page and lock in your reservation today. This conference is one of the premier opportunities for public and private transportation professionals to get together and share ideas with your colleagues. There will be no exhibition of equipment and services this year but this is still a great chance to meet vendors who provide goods and services that we all use to provide transportation service.
This year’s agenda is still being developed but we can already tell you that Michael Melaniphy, the new President of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is planning on coming back to Indiana to join us. Michael is another of Professor George Smerk’s students from Indiana University where he got his start in the transit business by taking classes from Dr. Smerk and by driving a Campus Bus. Michael is currently leading APTA’s charge to Capitol Hill to try to save the Mass Transit Account so he will have plenty to share with us about federal legislation. We’ll also have some speakers and sessions dealing with state legislative issues like our effort to restore the dedicated nature of the Public Mass Transportation Fund (PMTF) and to secure a means to generate funding for regional transportation authorities. Check back for an updated agenda as we fill out the complete agenda.
Follow the link to our registration form where you can register and pay for the conference and also sign up and pay to participate in the ITA’s 5th Annual Dave Gionet Golf Outing at Eagle Creek Golf Club on July 17th. Business members can also use the registration page to sponsor various social events for the Annual Meeting.
